ΥΥΤΑ - practice was founded by Yorgos Apostolopoulos, Antonis Tasoulis Yorgos Mertzanidis, and Themis Istatiadis in 2022. They established YYTA in Athens, Greece as a collaborative architectural practice.
The diverse background of each collaborator evokes a wide range of perspectives, which ensures a sincere and versatile engagement within each project. Through the act of making and by experimenting with spatial relations and primary materials, they define a coherent architecture. While the forms and memories of each place set the individual vocabulary of each project.
Their proposal for the restoration of the historical Sarlija Palace and the creation of a thermal complex, in the island of Lesvos, was awarded the first prize in a public architectural competition.

After several years of collaboration with international and local architectural studios, they gained experience in all phases of design. Their proposal for the restoration of the historical Sarlitza Palace and the creation of a thermal / cultural complex, in Lesvos, was awarded the first prize in a public architectural competition. They are currently working on private commissions, competitions as well as on academic research.
Yorgos Apostolopoulos, born 1993, has graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2018 with the project Archive of a Ruin (nominee for Mies Van der Rohe YTAA, 2020 and Archiprix International Award, 2021). By receiving a residency scholarship from Stavros Niarchos Foundation in 2014 he continued his research in Siena Art Institute, Italy.
From 2018 till today, he is collaborating with studio BAROZZI VEIGA, Barcelona, Spain where he is personally leading the design of the art-campus Oolite Arts, Miami, Florida, USA. In the same practice coordinates and leads proposals for varying interna- tional competitions and different phases of under-execution projects, such as Groeninge Abbey Art and Exhibition Space, Kortrijk, Belgium (1st prize, under construction), Nîmes Congress Hall, France (2nd prize), Headquarters of Dynafit, Ger- many (1st prize, under construction), Natural history museum of Locarno, Switzerland, Extension of Chicago Art institute, Illinois, USA. In parallel, he is developing personal projects in Greece, and is taking part in competitions and exhibitions.
Giorgos Mertzanidis, born 1993. Architecture studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Hochschule Kai- serslautern and postgraduate studies in semiotics, culture and communication at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Research interest in rural architectural heritage and architectural semiotics with publications in relevant conferences. Member of Europa Nostra and the Youth Special Task Force for the Balkans of the Europa Nostra Athens Heritage Hub. Technical consultant in matters of management and development of ALMI S.A. facilities..
Themis Istatiadis, born 1992 in Ioannina. He graduated from the Department of Architectural and Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in November 2019. During his studies in Thessaloniki and Tuscany, he attended ar- chitectural composition and visual arts workshops. At the same time, he took part in architectural competitions and group exhibitions, winning four awards with his group of fellow students. In 2018, he was part of the team that won the 1st prize in the competition for the regeneration of the central square of Ioannina, Greece. After the competition he worked on the execution study of the proposal.
Antonis Tasoulis, born 1993. He studied at the Department of Architectural Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), from where he graduated in 2019. During his studies he lived in Thessaloniki and Italy as a fellow of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF-SART). After completing his studies he collaborated with studio Barozzi Veiga in Barcelona. From 2021, he is collaborating with Kois Associated Architects, where he participates in the preparation of proposals for architectural competitions as well as studies of various scales. He lives and works in Athens, as a freelanc- er, actively participating in architectural competitions and private projects.
